SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium presents, CLAWS!

Meet the armored division of the marine world at this new exhibit. Learn about the amazing anatomy of crabs and find out what makes them one of the most powerful predators of the sea bed! The Claws exhibit showcases incredible crustaceans from around the world, featuring the giant Japanese spider crab  with legs reaching up to 12 feet in length when fully grown! Other species will include the Florida spiny lobster, spider crab, the unique fiddler crab, and even lobsters!

And here is something new: Weedy Sea Dragons

A relative of the seahorse and pipefish, these dancing dragons love to swim, twirl, hide and dance along ocean kelp forests and sea beds that they call home. Find these curiously camouflaged creatures in our new Weedy Exhibit. Native to the southern tip of Australia, weedy sea dragons prefer shallow, cool waters among rocky reefs, kelp and seaweed where they are able to hide themselves using their unique “weedy” appendages. While they spend the majority of their life as solitary creatures, weedy sea dragons are known for their peculiar courtship ritual known as the “mirror dance,” in which pairs swim gracefully together while mirroring each partner’s movements.
